below are some compare/contrast examples of what we hope to feature in our zine. all of these examples are taken from google (with sources linked, if found) and belong to the respective creators.

the above image is an example of what we are not looking for. there is a lack of detail work on the characters and the background is completely empty. background detail is important as we're looking for pieces where the entire page can be filled.
this one, on the other hand, is much better! not only is there wonderful detail on the characters, but there is a complex background to color and the details are not too small that they can't be colored.
here is another example of a piece that is inappropriate for our project. notice how the detail work is far too small to be colored by everyday art supplies. maybe someone with fancier supplies might have products small enough to make it work, but we want to create pieces around the assumption that everyone can use affordable fine-tip markers or pencils. also, the background work isn't specific about what is what; the shapes and setting are not clear.
this one, however, is a perfect blend of easily-colorable and detailed. each shape is perfectly defined and recognizable, while leaving little minimal space in the background so the entire page can be colored to the buyer's content.
all in all, the pieces should contain the following:
minimal negative spacevector-style lines in a variety of thicknessclean lineart (no sketches, no shading)recognizable, complete shapessuitable to be colored by basic fine-tip markers, colored pencils, or sharpened crayons
